Colleen P. Smith Memorial Fund

Registration for 2024 Tournament

Our Mission Statement:

Colleen Smith was tragically taken from her family and friends on August 3rd, 2008, three days after her sixteenth birthday.

Anyone would have had to experience Colleen to truly appreciate the life she led and the life within her. From birth, she was a constant bundle of energy, always moving, always involved. Colleen brought that energy and devotion to many parts of her life. From playing sports to working on her art, to the love she had of her friends, to the enjoyment of her high school, Cardinal Dougherty. Colleen admired her older siblings and was devoted to her younger ones. There is no doubt, Colleen had so much to offer this world and it is a lesser place since she left it.

The Colleen P. Smith Memorial Fund, Inc. is a non-profit charity formed to keep Colleen’s name alive and vital in the community in which she lived. One goal of this organization is to raise funds so as to aid students who might not otherwise reap the benefits of their hard work. Many students will struggle to achieve scholastic excellence but fall just short. As did Colleen. These same students will be involved with sports or the arts or their schools for the sheer pleasure of it and not be recognized for their efforts. As was Colleen. This fund seeks to award scholarships to students who demonstrate the desire to succeed but fall just short of the scholastic grades or sheer talent required to be awarded other scholarships. We believe they deserve to be recognized.

This Fund also wishes to financially aid families who have suffered the loss of a daughter or son, brother or sister. Donations will be made to assist in realizing a dignified funeral for their loved one.

Should additional monies be available, the Fund wishes to assist local youth sports organizations which may require capital to maintain their fields or purchase equipment.

The Colleen P. Smith Memorial Fund was established because of the diligent and determined work of many people. It never would have reached the status of an incorporated, non-profit charity without their help. You know who you are and we thank you. But, rest assured, we still need you.

Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
